10 ways to stressless and get a good night's sleep

1. Maintain regular sleeping patterns, including on weekends.

2. Establish a regular, relaxing bedtime routine such as soaking in a hot bath and then reading a book or listening to soothing music.

3. Create a sleep-conducive environment that is dark, quiet, comfortable and cool.

4. Use your bedroom only for sleep to strengthen the association between bed and sleep.

5. Finish eating at least 2-3 hours before your regular bedtime.

6. If you've been lying in bed awake for a long time, get out of bed and try doing something relaxing, like reading or watching television.

7. Avoid napping during the day, as this makes it more difficult to sleep at night.

8. Exercise regularly, aiming for at least 20-30 minutes each day.

9. Avoid or limit caffeine, alcohol and nicotine. Caffeine and nicotine can keep you awake, and alcohol can disturb sleeping patterns.

10. Clear your mind so you're not trying hard to fall asleep. Distract yourself by reading until you become drowsy.
